Biography
Dr. Hu is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the China University of Geosciences in Wuhan. She was a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia from 2016-2017 and at Imperial College London, UK, in 2006. Dr. Hu holds a BEng and a MEng in Hydrological and Engineering Geology, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Geology, all from the China University of Geosciences. She worked as a geological engineer for two years for the Geological Survey of Henan Province, China, before she joined the China University of Geosciences as a faculty member. Dr. Hu’s research interests lie in the evolution and long-term stability of stabilizing structures for reservoir landslides under complex conditions. She is an author of over 130 journal papers and seven books. Dr. Hu also consults intensively on the prevention and mitigation of landslides near riverbanks. Dr. Hu is a recipient of numerous awards, including three National Awards for Science and Technology Progress, for her contributions in landslide mitigation.
